Deacon Rafael "Raffy" Mendoza
About Me
Spiritual Direction is a sacred journey of accompaniment—walking alongside a seeker who desires to discern God’s movement in their life, both in times of blessing and in seasons of pain and loss. It is a grace-filled space where life’s struggles can be embraced as gifts, and where healing, forgiveness, and love emerge through the presence of the Divine.
As a Spiritual Director, I do not serve as a therapist or problem solver. I offer a loving presence and sacred listening, honoring the unique dignity of each seeker and helping them encounter Christ more personally and tangibly.
Sessions are available in person or virtually.
I hold a Master’s in Pastoral Theology from Chaminade University of Honolulu and completed a two-year formation in The Art of Franciscan Spiritual Direction in Marylhurst, Oregon. Currently, I am continuing my spiritual direction formation through St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
I have been blessed with my own Spiritual Director for over 11 years. I have been married to my wife, Pinky, for over 40 years, and we are proud parents of three young adult sons.
I have served as a permanent deacon in the Diocese of Honolulu since January 2018, and I am currently assigned at Mary Star of the Sea Church, Honolulu.
